“I’m Deranged” by Marianne Nowottny, from her album Marzanna, is a reimagining of David Bowie’s 1995 cult classic from Outside. Originally written and performed by Bowie as a descent into fractured identity, haunted love, and disintegration, the track takes on a new form in Nowottny’s hands.
She transforms the dystopian fever dream into a jazz-noir siren lament from beyond the veil. Mixed by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor), her version is more than a cover; it is an invocation.
